The Magic of Focus

You’ve been running your business for a while now and cannot understand why you don’t have a long line of waiting clients or nearly enough income!

You are talented, and creative, and have loads of ideas swirling around in your head at any given time.

Stop for a moment. You are not alone.

Many entrepreneurs, just like you have too many ideas running around their heads; they don’t know how to pick one idea & see it through to completion. They might not have the knowledge, or may not have the motivation to take action.

Whatever the reason, this leads to discomfort, which keeps them going around in a stuck cycle, never choosing and persevering with an idea and working with it.

The thing is, unless entrepreneurs decide to make a change and learn to get focused, in a year, in 5 years’ time even, they’ll be in the same place of overwhelm and frustration, spinning round & round, a vicious cycle that is so very detrimental to their business and life.

This cycle has a name, and it’s called Shiny Object Syndrome.

The Magic of Focus at Work!

As an example, look at Lord Sugar. When he first started his computer brand, Amstrad, he persevered against all odds as there were many challenges with his products.

However, one of the reasons Lord Sugar found immense success was because he remained focused, on the one productivity task, which was to create customers and sales in his business.

He took consistent daily action with his company, and the rest is history.

Do you think he never got distracted, never felt de-motivated, and wanted to change track? Of course he did, however, like most other successful entrepreneurs, he ploughed on step by step until he had built the brand to be the success it ultimately became.

Of course, these days, yes he has many different businesses, and his focus is split across many things.

However, he knows that to succeed, you must be focused on one thing at a time, step by step. So even now, with each business he starts or goes into partnership with, he is focused on that business until it’s up and running, earning good income and thriving.

Only then does he move on to something else.

Or what about Richard Branson, the same applies here. He was singularly focused on Virgin Airlines and remained so until it became the success it continues to be today.

Now his focus is devoted to going to Mars, despite many serious setbacks, so his story continues—one thing at a time.

So are you starting to see the pattern here?

Successful entrepreneurs must be focused on their ultimate goals to take the necessary daily, consistent actions towards achieving them.

Don’t change your mind, or be distracted halfway through a task because you are de-motivated or bored, or don’t have the knowledge.

This is where the Magic of Focus comes in!

Stop, think, prioritise, get focused again and continue, one step at a time, one task and project at a time. Finish one, then move on to the next one.

When you are aligned with your goals, it’s easy to be re-motivated and resist the temptation of the next new shiny object.

When you lack the knowledge to take your business forward, find new people and companies to teach and guide you, and ensure to keep earning as you are learning.

Remember, the only person who can transform you and your business is YOU.

When you are focused on what you know needs to be completed, work becomes easy, and it becomes a joy.

Imagine ticking off all the essential tasks and projects each day, week after week, resulting in the success you desire.

Imagine the immense feeling of pride as you accomplish each of your goals, one step at a time and one goal at a time. See your business flourish.

Focus is about daily, consistent action on the right tasks and projects. Focus is about working smart.

When you are focused, that’s when the magic really starts.

Decide on your task; what must you focus on to grow your business? Then, focus on completing that task, before you move on to the next one.

As Albert Einstein said:

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Could you decide to make a change today?
